Armageddon is a side project helmed by Swedish guitar player Christopher Amott in his unornamented time from Arch Enemy -- the band he runs with brother Michael (of Carcass fame). Like Arch Enemy, Armageddon performs speedy, thrash-based heavy metal, informed by new death and fateful alloy undercurrents. Their first album, 1997's Crossing the Rubicon, as well featured vocaliser Jonas Nyren, bassist Martin Bengtsson, and drummer Peter Wildoer. The lowest deuce were briefly tangled with Arch Enemy as well (playing on 1998's Stigmata), and it was no surprise when Amott borrowed AE's Daniel Erlandsson to drumfish on Armageddon's tardy sophomore exploit, Embrace the Mystery, in 2000. The album also featured Last Tribe members Rickard Bengtsson (vocals) and Dick Lowgren (basso), just both of them were kaput by the sentence of 2002's only named Three, which base Amott taking over Tobias Gustafsson (of Eucharist).
The Shjins To Release New Album On Own Record Label
The Shins will release their as-yet-untitled fourth album on frontman James Mercer’s own record label, it's been revealed.
The deal with Aural Apothecary records, which is an all-encompassing pressing and distribution agreement, has thrown into question the band’s future with Sub Pop records.
The Shins have released their last three records – ‘Oh, Inverted World’, ‘Chutes Too Narrow’ and ‘Wincing the Night Away’ – with the popular indie label.
Speaking to Billboard, the band’s manager Ian Montone said that new deal Aural Apothecary might not be the end of their relationship with Sub Pop.
"That partner could very well remain Sub Pop, who have done a remarkable job with the band and have a great staff of people who really love music,” he said.
“It could be a digital partner with respect to other rights. All of this is being determined. The first goal is to make the record and see where that takes us."
Commenting on the news, Sub Pop general manager Megan Jasper said that the label would “love to continue working with” the band.
The band's last album, 'Wincing The Night Away', charted at number tow on the US Billboard album chart last year.

The 75-year-old star used expletives when referring to actor Russell Crowe.
She later said that she thought that the curses would be bleeped out of the show.
Referring to one of the words that she used, Rivers said: "People have heard it in 'Sex and the City', it's such a common word."
"I said: 'I apologise'. Everyone apologised. It was hilariously funny," she said.
"I would be delighted to go back if they would apologise and give me a gift," she joked.
An ITV spokeswoman said: "We would like to apologise to 'Loose Women' viewers for the inappropriate language used by Joan Rivers on today's show."
"Presenter Jackie Brambles immediately apologised to viewers and reiterated this apology later in the show."

Cameron steps out with model
Cameron Diazs romance with Paul Sculfor may be getting serious, femalefirst.co.uk reports.
The actress, who was seen flirting with the model over dinner earlier this month, enjoyed a second romantic date with Sculfor in Hollywood this week.
The pair were spotted at the exclusive Chateau Marmont hotel and Diaz appeared to be smitten with Sculfor, actress Jennifer Anistons ex-boyfriend.
Cameron and Paul were sitting on the patio, leaning in toward each other, a source said. Her body language looked like she was really comfortable with him. She looked genuinely like a girl falling in love.
While Diaz has previously remained coy about her private life, onlookers say she was happy to flaunt her new romance.
She wasnt really hiding him, the source added.
Although Diaz seems to have fallen head over heels for Sculfor, friends claim she still has feelings for ex-lover Justin Timberlake and has turned to him for support since the sudden death of her father Emilio in April.

'Get Smart' spies box office victory
The new spy spoof "Get Smart" took an early lead at the weekend box office in North America, while Mike Myers bombed with his latest comedy "The Love Guru," according to first-day sales data.
"Get Smart," a remake of the '60s television series of the same name, earned an estimated US$13.35 million on Friday, said distributor Warner Bros Pictures.
The Time Warner-owned studio said the film would end up with about US$37 million -- slightly ahead of forecasts -- once ticket sales for Saturday and Sunday are factored in. Estimates for the three-day period will be issued on Sunday, followed by final data on Monday.
"The Love Guru," meanwhile, opened at No. 4 with just US$5.4 million, according to tracking firm Box Office Mojo, and will fall far short of the US$20 million range that Hollywood pundits had picked for the weekend. Paramount Pictures, the film's Viacom Inc-owned distributor, declined to comment.
The studios' decision to stake out the same weekend for their competing comedies surprised many observers, who predicted they would end up cannibalizing each other. Critics were largely appalled by both films.
"Get Smart" stars Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart, the bumbling secret agent originated by Don Adams. Anne Hathaway fills in for Barbara Feldon as his smart sidekick, Agent 99.
Warner Bros. partnered on the US$80 million project with Australia's Village Roadshow Ltd. It looks to have a happier journey than the companies' recent disaster "Speed Racer."
"The Love Guru," which marks Myers' first on-screen appearance since the 2003 bomb "The Cat in the Hat," reportedly cost about US$60 million to make. The Canadian actor plays a Deepak Chopra-style New Age guru.
Last weekend's champion, the Marvel Entertainment Inc-produced superhero saga "The Incredible Hulk," slipped to No. 2 with about US$6.4 million, taking its 8-day total to US$81 million, said Box Office Mojo. "Hulk" was distributed by General Electric Co's Universal Pictures,
The DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc cartoon "Kung Fu Panda" was down one to No. 3 with about US$6.3 million in its third round. It has earned US$140 million to date, said Box Office Mojo. "Kung Fu Panda" is distributed by Paramount.
